Standing with my camera and tripod amidst the quiet field, I am able to hear the whispering of the wheat as they gently sway in the wind. Their soothing sound inspires a feeling of gratefulness as I ponder the miraculous nature of these crops. This wheat may eventually become a delicious loaf of bread; on which we say the blessing: "Blessed are You Hashem, Master of the Universe, who brings forth bread from the ground."
We recognize where this bread came from, beginning as just a wheat seed in the ground. This seed is transformed through a partnership between Hashem and man to become nourishment for our bodies and souls. To me, this is the power of the Land of Israel; it is a land where the revelation of Hashem is made clear through the work of man, a revelation to be found even amidst the fields of wheat.
