Shoulders of Giants
Tower of David
Limited edition of 101
Built by King Herod as a fortress of protection at the end of the first century BCE, the ‘Tower of David’ now functions as a museum presenting the dynamic history of Jerusalem. How fitting is it that this tower stands at the entrance to the Old City of Jerusalem, reminding us of the history embedded in its walls? I am humbled and strengthened when reminded of the many generations that have come before me. As a great Talmudic commentator stated,
“We are dwarves astride the shoulders of giants. Due to their wisdom we grow wise and are able to say all that we say, but not because we are greater than they.”
