Glorious Desert
Ein Avdat
Limited edition of 18
Most of us have experienced a lack in our lives, an emptiness inside, crying out for attention. The teachings of Chassidut (Jewish spirituality), reveal to us that the desert embodies this emotional experience. This is especially expressed in the difficulty to grow and sustain life in the desert. The Torah tells us that after leaving Egypt, the Jewish people received the Torah in the desert and traveled in the desert for 40 years before entering the land of Israel. Why? Perhaps it is in order to teach us that it is possible to reveal G-dliness - wholeness, peacefulness, positivity - even in times of experiencing emptiness or lacking. I see in this photograph this truth. The road paved through the deserted landscape on either side shows that there is hope to pave the way through hard times. We are always capable of experiencing sparks of meaning and beauty in our surrounding world if we only tap into this reality.
