Another World
Ramon Crater
Limited edition of 18
As I stand over Makhtesh Ramon awaiting the arrival of the sun, I am amazed at how this vibrant orange illuminates the sky. The huge crater and wide stretching mountain range in front of me, it seems as if I have the entire world to capture. However, something about the contrast between the flowing hills and the brilliant sky catches my attention. To focus on this contrast, I choose to use a lens with a longer focal length which allows me to zoom in to isolate a sliver of the vast view. This gives a unique perspective and makes this photo feel as if I am experiencing another world entirely. I find this method of zooming in to a specific frame in photography as a perspective-altering tool that we can use. We can sometimes become overwhelmed by all that is happening in our lives. Yet if we can try to zoom in to the present moment and crop out the distractions, we may find a window into another world – a world of serenity, vibrant experiences, and authentic beauty.
